We've all heard of Myspace and Facebook and the stigma attached to them. Social Networking is not just for high school and college students. Social networking can allow you to tap into a world of resources in your particular area of interest. Ning allows you to create your own Social Network for free. Linkedin is a social network designed for professionals to reccommend and promote themselves in the business world.

Social Media
Social Media has been taking the world by storm in the past few years since the spread of broadband the popularity of youtube. However, there are other resources out there they may prove useful in the classroom.
- TeacherTube - Similar to YouTube but designed for educational videos and student work.
- Hulu- designed for TV Shows and movies. Hulu offers high quality clips sometimes of shows that might be useful in the classroom.
Google Apps
The world's most popular search engine is more than just a verb. It is now a place to host a myriad of free great applications and tools for the classroom.
- Google Documents - free "Office-like" suite allows you to create and share documents on the web.
- Google Earth - interactive satellite map of the entire world (almost).
Colloboration & Discussion
Students and teachers methods of discussing topics are changing. These free tools break the barrier between teachers and student use of the internet as educational tools.
- pbWiki(PBWORKS) - free education-friendly wiki allows teachers to create a wiki, moderate and invite students with complete control over there actions, giving them a safe and fun place to share and post ideas and have discussions.
- Voicethread - free place to post and share images and videos and have discussions through multiple modalities of communication.
- Voki - free video blogging with an avatar. Great fun and safe way to get students to vlog in a protected environment.
- Polleverywhere - Free online polling response system. Students may use their cellphone, email or computers to cast votes in realtime.
